Israfest Foundation
The Israfest Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded by Meir Fenigstein (letter of introduction) in 1982 to enrich the American vision of Israeli life and culture, provide an intercultural exchange through the powerful medium of film and spotlight Israel's growing film industry. During the past eleven years, the Israel Film Festival has become the largest showcase of Israeli films in the United States, screening more than 180 films and attracting audiences in Los Angeles and New York of more than 300,000 filmgoers.
This year's highlight is the first American Film and TV Symposium which will be held in Israel at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, February 10 -14, 1996. This groundbreaking event will consist of workshops presented by top Hollywood professionals, focusing on issues such as production, co-production, marketing and advertising, finance, distribution, TV sitcoms and dramas, commercials, and interactive and future media.
The 13th Israel Film Festival 1996, will include many premieres of feature films, documentaries and television dramas, along with a student shorts marathon sponsored by AT&T. The Festival will run in New York from November 13th through November 26th at the Angelika 57 Theatre, and in Los Angeles from December 10 through December 24th Laemmle's Monica 4-Plex.
In its second decade, the Israfest Foundation is working to expand the Festival to more films in more cities in the United States and Canada, and to promote Israel's film industry on a worldwide scale, with increased co-production, distribution and international releases outside of Festival showings.
