A native of Tel Aviv, Meir Fenigstein began his career as a rock musician, well known to audiences as "Poogy" from the rock group Kavaret, which became one of the most popular contemporary music groups in Israel.

After his successful music career, Mr. Fenigstein became involved with the film industry. His acting debut was in the box office hit "The Troop," followed by a role in the movie "Aunt Clara." He was then cast in the renowned play "Cherli Kacherli," which won the Meskin Prize in 1978.

While studying at the Boston College of Music, Mr. Fenigstein first conceived the idea of the Israel Film Festival which he founded in 1982 as a means of promoting Israeli films in America. For more than a decade, Mr. Fenigstein has been dedicated to fostering cross-cultural awareness between the United States and Israel through the powerful medium of film.

Now in its 12th year, the bi-coastal Israel Film Festival has become the largest showcase of Israeli films in the United States. This year, the Festival is proud to add the first American Film and TV Symposium in Tel Aviv, February 10-14, 1996, which will feature workshops and seminars presented by top Hollywood professionals.
