Dear Friends,

On behalf of my distinguished colleagues on the Honorary Festival Committee, I am very pleased to welcome you to the 12th Israel Film Festival in the U.S.A. In addition to offering a wider variety of Israeli film screenings in New York and Los Angeles this year, we are also delighted that the Festival will be traveling back to Israel to hold its first American Film and TV Symposium in Tel Aviv.

We do live in exciting times. The peace process is in the news daily and promises to have a lasting effect. Israeli cinema is changing too, and we encourage its growth as on artistic expression of the changes in the country itself. We are grateful to the filmmakers who share with us the films they created in Israel - half a world away.

We are also grateful to all who have worked so tirelessly to create and sustain the Festival: the many volunteers, contributors, staff, and guests, and most of all, the audience.

Filmmaking exists for the audience, and it is our hope that you will enjoy all that the Festival has to offer.
