Letter from Pete Wilson
Governor, State of California

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
State of California

October 19, 1995

I'm delighted to extend my warmest regards to everyone in attendance at this year's Israel Film Festival, both in New York and Los Angeles, as well as my sincere congratulations to the filmmakers whose works have been selected to represent Israel at this prestigious event.

The medium of film is an art form that wields a tremendous amount of influence and power. The sense of intimacy that is shared between filmmaker and audience carries with it the ability to communicate on a profound scale. California is known worldwide for its preeminence in the field of cinema. Indeed, our film industry is inextricably tied to our cultural and economic well-being.

The Israel Film Festival will go a long way toward expanding the demand for Israeli productions, as well as expose thousands to the people and culture of Israel -often for the first time. It is indeed a wonderful forum for creative exchange and cultural appreciation.

I'm proud to serve on the Festival Committee, and I am confident that filmmakers and moviegoers alike will have many wonderful memories of this year's Israel Film Festival. Gayle joins me in sending our very best wishes for an enjoyable and successful 1995 film festival.

Sincerely,

PETE WILSON
